I have devoted this article to the concept of Virtual Manufacturing (VM), its usage for placing commercial orders (production contracting) and its capabilities in modern conditions.
At performing a responsible order, it is important not only to monitor its passage, but also be able to control the technological and production processes, including the ability to influence their progress quickly if it is necessary. Existing developments for solving this problem allow the customer to directly observe and adjust the order, performed at a third-party production site. And the customer can do this throughout the entire process, from preparing the production and manufacturing of parts to control and test processes. The main condition is the presence of a computer-mediated organizational structure. In this article I have considered the concept of virtual enterprises for placing commercial orders (industrial contracting) and their use in modern conditions.
