Standards, in terms of their inherent advanced scientific and technical ideas, necessary to maintain high technical and technological level of domestic industry, belong to the national heritage of the country. The most important task of the state bodies, legal persons and everyone who applies these standards is to keep them in proper operating conditions. I find it necessary to make an inventory of existing standards to determine their actual number and evaluating the optimal equipment standards of different measurement types, as well as to predict the future paths of development of the standard base of the country. In addition, the inventory will facilitate the assessment of the real technical and metrological levels of available reference base.
